Stent encrustation represents a poorly explored area in the field of urology. Notwithstanding a low incidence (13%), management of encrusted stents still represent a challenge for urologists with several technical and legal controversies. Furthermore no guidelines are available and management is mostly based on personal experience or expert opinion advice ranging from lower and upper endourological procedures to nephrectomy in selected cases.
